Santa Maria di Castellabate is a town in southern Italy and a hamlet (frazione) of Castellabate, a municipality in the province of Salerno, Campania. It is the most populated hamlet of the municipality and the location of the town hall. In the 18th century, the town was known as “Isca delle Chitarre,” its original core and now the old town. The center extends around two main squares, Piazza Matarazzo and Piazza Lucia, and the oldest houses face the small harbor in an area called “Porte le Gatte.”
